BaseLayer – Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how the mobile application BaseLayer (“the App”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) handles your information.

BaseLayer is an adaptive aerobic base builder for runners. It connects to a compatible Bluetooth heart-rate monitor and uses heart-rate and movement data during your runs to calculate aerobic training progress, provide on-screen guidance, vibration alerts, and maintain your fitness history inside the app.

At the core of BaseLayer is a fitness signal based on grade-adjusted pace divided by heart rate. The app uses this, together with proprietary physiological modelling, to guide your aerobic base training, help determine when you have done enough productive aerobic work for the day, and build the aerobic foundation that supports the rest of your running.

BaseLayer is designed to guide aerobic base training. It does not replace weekly long runs or speed sessions. Instead, it helps guide the aerobic foundation that supports progress across the rest of your training.

We are committed to respecting your privacy. We collect and use as little data as possible and do not sell your data to third parties.

1. Data We Collect

1.1 Information you provide directly

The App does not require you to create an account or provide your name, address, or profile details. The only information you may choose to share with us directly is when you contact us by email at itknows123@outlook.com.

1.2 Heart-rate, workout, and fitness data

The App connects to a compatible Bluetooth heart-rate monitor and processes workout-related data on your device. Depending on how you use the App, this may include:

• live heart-rate readings from your connected monitor,
• movement and run-related data such as speed, distance, elevation-related inputs, and derived movement signals,
• derived training metrics such as aerobic training progress, workout duration, average heart rate, fitness history values, and fitness signals based on grade-adjusted pace divided by heart rate, and
• saved workout records that you choose to keep inside the App.

This data is used only to operate the core features of the App, including first-run calibration, adaptive aerobic base guidance, vibration alerts, monitor reconnect behaviour, and fitness history displays.

We do not upload your heart-rate data, workout data, or fitness history to our servers.

1.3 Device and permissions

To function correctly, the App may request the following permissions:

• Bluetooth – to scan for and connect to your heart-rate monitor.
• Location – to measure movement during runs and, on some devices or operating systems, to allow Bluetooth scanning or connection features to work correctly.
• Motion-related/background usage – where supported by the operating system, to help the App continue workout tracking during an active run.
• Vibration / haptics – to alert you when your aerobic base target is reached or when the App needs your attention.

These permissions are used only to provide the core features of the App. You can change permission settings at any time in your device Settings, though some App features may no longer function properly if permissions are disabled.

2. Analytics and Tracking

The App does not use third-party advertising SDKs, ad networks, or cross-app tracking. We do not sell your data and we do not use your workout data for advertising purposes.

If Apple provides high-level diagnostic or crash information and you have opted into that at the system level, that information may be used only to improve the stability and performance of the App.

3. Data Storage and Retention

Your workout records, fitness history, monitor preferences, calibration values, and related training data are stored locally on your device, using on-device storage provided by the operating system.

We do not maintain a central user account database for your workout history and we do not store your run data on our own servers.

Emails or support messages that you send to us at itknows123@outlook.com may be stored in our email systems for as long as reasonably necessary to provide support and keep basic records.

4. Children’s Privacy

The App is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe that a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will take reasonable steps to delete it.

5. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We may share limited information only in the following situations:

• Service providers – for example, hosting providers or email services used to operate our website or support email.
• Legal reasons – if required by law or to respond to valid legal requests.

6. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights relating to your personal data, such as the right to:

• request access to information we hold about you;
• request correction or deletion of personal information you have provided to us directly; and
• object to or restrict certain types of processing where applicable by law.

We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect information under our control. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the App or in applicable laws. When we do, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
